Stories on this page are the outcomes of various community initiatives and interactions. Since the community is driven voluntarily, passionate Mindtree Minds decide the community objective, identify gaps, chart out a roadmap, leverage different techniques and intervention models that benefit other like-minded members. This also helps them network with each other, stay connected, make friends and build trust.
We did a community survey and found out that 23% saw a great progress in the way community initiative has evolved in 2011. 8% said the community activities have made a direct impact in their work/project and it was a life saver for them. 47% noticed a positive impact (personally/professionally) on themselves as well as others.

BookFish is a community for book lovers in MindTree. Peoples’ reactions before & after joining the community
Many people used to approach the community champions and have told them they hate reading or reading makes them sleep. Most people expected this to be like any other community that would discuss technical books. They were asked to join the community for an event or two and now they are converts and fans of BookFish. Champions surprised them with a bunch of events which had things like movies, videos and exciting games other than book reading and discussions! The team completely busted the myth that book clubs are boring places for bookworms.
The community has changed people’s perception plus showed them that books need not be like sleeping pills. The community feels that books have become fun for them! One of the champion said:
“I feel happy with some of our members come and tell me they have read one or two books in past few months and they want to discuss it with me. These were some people who had given up on reading or didn’t read at all. I can’t express the joy it brings to me. I feel my work with BookFish is done perfectly and our team of Champions has done what we had set out to do. It is a tremendously satisfying feeling and makes me proud to be a BookFisher.”
What keeps them going?
The team is passionate about reading and the benefits that can come to all through reading. Their aim in BookFish is to introduce more people to the world of books and world of knowledge sharing. If the core team is passionate, enthusiastic about the cause and driven, the community around it stays receptive to ideas and shows active involvement.
