Participating in community initiative within Mindtree is completely voluntary. Passionate Mindtree Minds from across competency levels, skills, locations and roles volunteer to take the responsibility to lead the community with one objective – to network and share what they know thus making a substantial difference in other people’s lives. While nothing can match their passion, energy, dedication and their willingness to share from time to time the KM Team recognizes, felicitates, rewards such selfless efforts as a tribute to their spirit of volunteerism. This in turn leads to further motivate community members and also encourages higher participation.
On an average there are 3 community events happening in Mindtree everyday. No we are not talking about virtual meetings but the community meets physically, face-to-face. People who facilitate events are recognized uniquely – their photos go up on the ‘Knowledge Boards’ and are up there for a week. These K-Boards are strategically located in front of the lifts where people take a pause and get a chance to read what’s happening in the week and who is facilitating events. Take a look at the 2 collage below. As you would notice the left collage has all content centric event flyers. Later we decided to invert that and make the flyers people centric. With this small but important innovation we saw a substantial increase in participation.
Once in 3 months the KM team consolidates various events and activities that happens in communities. More weightage is given to physical face-to-face interaction as we believe that the prime objective of the community platform is to provide its members to meet physically, network, interact, build trust and build relationships. As the community sees a value in this on an average every day around 3 events or activities takes place. Every quarter we take a stock and identify the top 10 community events based on number of participation in each event and top 10 community members who have facilitated maximum events within the community. The list along with some key statistics is published with names of the top 10 performers in each category to the entire community. Not just that but as a token of appreciation the top volunteers get some gifts too.
